QUALIFICATION : Nursery Nurse

PURPOSE STATEMENT:
To share the gospel through ministering to the poor people specifically in providing good medical care for the glory of God.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Be able to look after premature babies in incubators. Including knowledge of use and care of baby incubator.
2. Be able to do stomach washouts on newborns.
3. Be able to tube feed babies.
4. Be able to help mothers with breast feeding and train new moms in all baby care before discharge.
5. Maintain good record keeping for all relevant information pertaining to individual health records, list of medications and treatments.
6. Attend staff meeting whenever needed.
7. Participate in patient teaching of ante-natal and post-natal care.
8. Maintain seminar training as required by Professional Regulation Committee (PRC). Inform Department Supervisor of planned seminars, attendance and points gained.
9. Establish a working relationship with the pastors sharing the Gospel at the clinic.
10. Establish a working relationship with recognized medical authority (i.e. Doctors, municipal hall and related organization under the authority of the Department Supervisor).
11. Maintain good communication with the Department Supervisor, colleagues, volunteers and patients.
12. Be sensitive to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patients and inform the Department Supervisor.
    

PREFERRED PRE-FIELD EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / TRAINING: Nursery nurse trained with N. NEB Certificate

MISSIONARY TRAINING: Bible training is advised. Must be committed Christian, and be called of God to work among the poor.

EXPERIENCE: Hospital experience in Special Care Unit for at least 2 years.

LENGTH OF SERVICE: 4 year term to career commitment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

SUPPORT: individual required to fully raise their own financial support prior to arrival on the field. ACTION Philippines can provide general support level guidelines upon request.

FIELD TRAINING REQUIRED

1. LANGUAGE: Tagalog Level 2 minimum is required. Must have basic Tagalog communication skills for dialogue with the staff and women at the clinic. This will involve focused time dedicated to language study.
