OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The focus of Life-Discipleship is to teach training courses, which include essential tools for discipling/counseling in biblical solutions to common personal issues and relationship problems in the Christian life. The targeted trainees under this ministry are pastors and Christian church leaders from indigenous churches and para-church organizations in Metro Manila and other provinces in the Philippines.
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The purpose for this position is to train and equip pastors and lay Christian ministry leaders from local indigenous church and para-church organizations by teaching an in-depth discipleship and other practical related training courses such as biblical principles of financial management, and responsibilities of biblical stewardship including proper stewardship of the physical body entrusted to us, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To arrange for the availability of low cost course training material for local church pastors and Christian workers.
- To meet and plan with qualified volunteer workers from local churches and para-church organizations who will assist with the purposes of this ministry.
- Making arrangements for venue setting.
- Making arrangements for invitations/promotions and confirmation for attendance.
- Making arrangements for preparing the training material.
- Planning for the training session scheduling.
- Making arrangements for application reviews and applicant interviews for prospective trainees.
- Making arrangements for meals and snack planning for the trainees.
- Making arrangements for transportation cost assistance as may be needed on a case-by-case basis according the genuine need of the trainee.
- Determining responsibility and accounting procedures for the over-all training budget.
- Preparing the over-all budget for every training series.
- Raising funds for the over-all ministry budget.
- Prepare and teach the approved Life-Discipleship training course instruction and training activities.
- Prepare (from the course material) to teach each weekly lesson in advance of the weekly training sessions.
- Check, evaluate, and keep record of submitted assignments by the trainees.
- Prepare and teach the approved training course weekly lessons.
- Provide encouraging incentives and follow-up for the trainee participants to accomplish the objectives of the training course activities and homework assignments.
- Plan and implement a follow-up program with a committee of volunteer qualified Life-Discipleship alumni leaders who have completed all training course requirements.
- Prepare a response form for seminar delegate evaluation and suggestions for the training course.
- Visit and encourage selected alumni who are active in teaching this course in their organizations and/or who are providing basic group counseling services to people under their spiritual care.
- Promote the training course program to prospective Christian Evangelical funding organizations and Christian corporate business leaders and to keep these funding organizations updated with progress reports and newsletters.
- Oversee the quarterly budget and accounting for this training ministry and submit all such accounting to ACTION's Philippine Business Office.
- Be in contact with organizations (including those with internet web pages) who have teaching or training materials providing resources for this type of ministry.
- Must annually prepare a proposal and accompanying budget of the ministry for review and approval by ACTION's Philippine Council.
PREFERRED PRE-FIELD EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION / TRAINING: Must have had Bible course training in old/new testament survey, personal evangelism, at the Bible school Bachelor's degree level and must embrace practical life-application knowledge and practice of Scriptural principles pertaining to all of life applications and godliness. Completion of theological & nouthetic biblical counseling at the seminary-graduate level is recommended but not mandatory.

- EXPERIENCE:
- PRE-FIELD QUALIFICATIONS:
- The person or couple filling this position must fully understand and be in support of the total sufficiency of the Scriptures for all character issues of life and must be able to discern biblical truth from error as purported by unbiblical psychological philosophies, and other influential philosophical trends which are misleading and cause confusion the body of Christ regarding the principles of Scripture.
- The holder of this position must be able to adapt to the Philippine people, their culture, and contrasting environmental conditions that may be foreign to ideals of secular and even "Christianized" Western values and culture.
- ON-FIELD PRE-MINISTRY PREPARATIONS:
- Complete all on-field orientation requirements.
- Prepare and present the Life-Discipleship ministry proposal and budget as is necessary for this ministry with the on-field director of Pastoral Leadership Development and the ACTION Philippine Council (APC) prior to commencing with this ministry.
LENGTH OF SERVICE: Minimum of two years but a four-year term is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- SUPPORT: individual required to fully raise their own financial support prior to arrival on the field. ACTION Philippines can provide general support level guidelines upon request.
- LANGUAGE: Completion of training in the local national Filipino language is optional but highly recommended. Tagalog Level 2 of 5 recommended but not required.
